SCONES
Two freshly made, slightly warm, medium sized plain scones. Lovely light crunch on the outside with a flour dusting and perfectly soft on the inside.

CREAM
An ample ramekin of clotted cream.

JAM
A small jar of Wilkin & Sons, Tiptree Strawberry jam.

TEA
A good choice of teas. The Lapsang Souchong leaf tea was excellent.

AMBIENCE & SERVICE
The cream tea we chose (The Cedar Afternoon Tea) was really excellent and it was executed perfectly. We sat in the bar area and the staff were very friendly and the service was impeccable, in the way you might expect of a very good hotel. The whole experience was very enjoyable. Our only criticism would be the price, as this was twice the cost we’ve paid elsewhere (£12 for the cream tea for one person). Perhaps you get what you pay for, but £4.30 for the additional Lapsang tea also seemed a little excessive which is the only reason we didn’t score West Lodge a perfect 10!
