The Almonry, Ely Cathedral

SCONES
A large fruit scone with a very crunchy outside. It wasn’t too dense on the inside and had been slightly warmed. Very nice.
CREAM
A small ramekin of delicious clotted cream which was more than enough for the two scone halves.
JAM
A small jar of Tiptree strawberry jam.
TEA
A small choice of teas. We chose (as usual when available) the Lapsang Souchong which came in the form of Twinings bags and was very good.
AMBIENCE & SERVICE
We loved the setting at The Almonry. Indoors was in the beautiful 12th Century vaulted undercroft, but we chose to sit in the attractive garden in the shadow of Ely Cathedral. The staff were friendly and cheerful and the crockery and table clean.
Score: 8.5/10 ~ HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
