SCONES
As you might expect from this quirky Tea Room, there was an unusual choice of scones for a cream tea – date & walnut or sultana & cinnamon. We obviously had to try both! They were meduim-sized and fresh enough not to need re-heating (they weren’t). Unfortunately though, they’d been pre-cut in half (a Cream Tea Review pet hate) Rule No. 1 – Don’t interfere with the scones!
CREAM
A plentiful supply of cream. We assume it was clotted, but from the consistency and taste, it could almost have been a thick double cream.
JAM
An appropriate amount of strawberry jam, though we remain to be convinced how well it worked with date & walnut scones.
TEA
Blondies boasts an impressive range of loose leaf teas, but because we went for our usual Lapsang, we got a bagged variety which was fine.
AMBIENCE & SERVICE
Blondies Twisted Tea Room is quirky establishment with a shabby-chic vibe. The mis-matched crockery was clean and the large pink teapot with the contents handwritten on the side, funky. The staff were chatty and very friendly.
