Capabilitea Tea Rooms, Trentham
Stone Road, Trentham, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire ST4 8JG
24 October 2015
SCONES
Given the choice of fruit or cherry scones, we went for the former. What arrived was a large, soft scone with a light dusting of icing sugar. It was rather ‘cakey’ for our liking and might have benefitted from being warmed.
CREAM
A small ramekin of golden Rodda’s clotted cream in a good quantity for the two open halves of scone.
JAM
A small supply of raspberry jam served in a glass jar.
TEA
A small ceramic teapot of Twinings bagged tea. A usual, we chose our favouite Lapsang Souchong which was good. They also have a selection of loose leaf teas available as well.
AMBIENCE & SERVICE
Capabilitea Tea Rooms describe themselves as ‘shabby chic’. Their mis-matched crockery was clean and all of the staff were very friendly. We especially enjoyed reading the sign explaining why they call people ‘duck’ in these parts, but were glad they didn’t, as we waddled out of the door.
Score 7/10
Well on first site Capabilitea is warm welcome, it’s mixture of cups and tea pots, nothing seems to match. The food selection is basic but the cook transforms it into a yummy experience. My daughter was well impressed with her lunch. The bacon and cheese oatcake is wow 🤩 beyond yummy. Maria is the best cook at Capability as she has cooked for me twice now the third time was a older woman short and dumpy still good but has not got the same quality some how. I asked Maria if she was the owner, but replied no she wasn’t I said pitty. I recommend capabilitea to anyone. Ask for Maria chicken and chilli salad wow yummy.
